Well, i managed to break Ubuntu while following the instructions in Ubuntu's help file for screwing with NVidia drivers. Fun-ness. I envision a world where my linux install will work usefully on the first try ;)

In other news, i was confronted with the basic stupidity of hu-mans today. My car insurance lady (the one who's been dealing with claims for the ongoing problems i've had as a result of being whacked by an SUV while walking two years back). She hasn't reimbursed me for any of the treatment i received while i was in Ireland (went to a physical therapist a few times, and had to stop because i wasn't being reimbursed at all), and was phoning to try to sort that out. She was confused by the letter my PT sent her with the dates on which i was treated (because they were in European day/month format rather than US month/day format), which i understand, but she'd also never even heard of a Euro! I knew that people in the States were sometimes a little daft in the global world, but...?

Current Mood: shocked and perplexed

I need to take Bruce to the vet soon and have a small skin tag removed and get his annual. I want to take him to where you work since I'm going to be apeshit crazy with worry while he's under anesthesia, even if it is just a simple procedure. It will make me feel better to know that you're there doing sx tech. Can you send me the info for the clinic as well as a recommendation for which vet to see if there are multiple? Someone who will understand my crazy ex-tech behavior. :)

Thanks, G.!!

The clinic is Canyon Crossroads Animal Hospital, and its phone number is 281-1515. If you go East on I-40 and take exit 175 (the Tijeras, Cedar Crest exit), bear slightly right when the ramp splits, but go straight through the traffic light, we're on the left hand side of the road next to Talking Talons.

I work as Sx tech on Tuesday and Thursday mornings, and the veterinarians on those mornings (Dr. Mazzolini on Tues and Dr. Graham on Thurs) are both awesome, talented, and understanding.

If the skin tag is small enough, they could conceivably do it with a local. Failing that, they may just do a sedative injection (we use a combination of Torbugesic and Dormitor and then reverse the sedation with Antesedan), rather than doing the whole gas thing. Let me know and i can even make the appointment for you if need be ;)

I finally made an appointment for Bruce. We're going to be in this Saturday, the 11th, at noon for his annual. We'll make plans for the skin tag removal then. Thanks so much for the info, this clinic sounds awesome! The receptionist who made our appointment was super friendly and it's going to be insanely affordable. Totally worth the drive!

It was almost fun to give her the global culture lesson. "The Euro is the currency that most of Europe uses these days. Yes, it really is worth more than the US Dollar." People are definitely silly.

Lots of people don't seem to know that Irish is a language, or they insist on calling it Gaelic, even after it's explained to them that Irish is definitely distinct from Scotch Gaelic and Welsh. {shakes head}
