Ok, so yeah, i *am* from near Baltimore and can do a proper Baltimore accent on command, as that's how most of my relatives speak, but other quizzes like this one have pegged me as having the "no-accent accent." Then again, _goodmanbrown_ always told me i ended up with a crazy MD accent when i talked to my parents on the phone. I wonder which questions swung the balance over to this result:

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: Philadelphia

Your accent is as Philadelphian as a cheesesteak! If you're not from Philadelphia, then you're from someplace near there like south Jersey, Baltimore, or Wilmington. if you've ever journeyed to some far off place where people don't know that Philly has an accent, someone may have thought you talked a little weird even though they didn't have a clue what accent it was they heard.

It annoys me that the little bars that are supposed to indicate how much of each thing you are don't work in the lj code.

Do you say "gumband" instead of "rubberband"?

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The West

Your accent is the lowest common denominator of American speech. Unless you're a SoCal surfer, no one thinks you have an accent. And really, you may not even be from the West at all, you could easily be from Florida or one of those big Southern cities like Dallas or Atlanta.

Clearly, you do have an accent. It's the "I went to the Columbia School of Broadcasting and spent my life on the Interweb" accent. "Sunday, sunday, sunday, all hentai, all day long! You'll be on the edge of your sticky seat!" ;P

The problem with these tests is I know too much about how to change the results. Also, my accent is pretty much the most generic accent you can get (yay, growing up on military bases) except for a few random ass outliers and the ability to pick up on northesterly subtleties like "awk" vs "ock".

So depending on who I'm talking to it's either vaguely northeast, completely generic, or faintly british. (Ask Kat about how I say "tomato".)

What American accent do you have?
Your Result: The Midland

"You have a Midland accent" is just another way of saying "you don't have an accent." You probably are from the Midland (Pennsylvania, southern Ohio, southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and Missouri) but then for all we know you could be from Florida or Charleston or one of those big southern cities like Atlanta or Dallas. You have a good voice for TV and radio.
