Arrived safely and with very little trouble; just long with a bit of wind, really.

Ensconsed in my new place with loft bed 90% finished (i don't know how you did it so well or quickly, suzy_hendrix, i bow to your superior carpentry skills--i still reckon mine is going to look like something out of Weimar Cinema once it's together).

If i haven't said it before, damndirtyzombie is the best boyfriend on earth. Not only did he drive me out here and help me set up and run errands (including buying me a strangely crooked but functional set of Ikea shelves and dealing with several minor freak-outs on my part due to bed-building fuckups of my own doing), but he stayed an extra day just to hang out with me in a non-errand fashion before heading back (we went to see Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean speak and they were wonderful). Then he drove back through nasty weather as well. There aren't enough hugs in the world or good things i can say about him. I love you, sweetheart, and i miss you terribly. I can't wait to see you again. {all the hugs}

Also, very big props to netan9el, barjack, djsparkydog, and synthpop_girl for talking to me on the phone in the last few days and greatly increasing my sanity/decreasing my emo. {hugs} You lot (or indeed any of you) are welcome to phone me whenever you like--i could surely use the friendly voices.

Finally, thank you to gothaminserenia for running me around in the last few days and generally being a good guy, and to skywaman and the lovely Alyssa for popping up at HM last week--it was good to see you.

So, i'm alive, if feeling generally a bit lonely and depressed and missing the boy and the other kitties. School starts tomorrow--i'm not yet sure if it will be a blessing or a curse. I reckon i'll have plenty of time for studying, but as usual, i have the niggling fear that perhaps i'm just not capable of completing this whole academic thing, particularly in a timely fashion. We'll see, i'm sure i can always have a fabulous career as a low-paid Vet Tech or Call Center monkey. ;)

As usual, if any of you are free in person or online to chat with me about random bits of literature and history (even if you don't know much about it), it would be a huge help.

Anyway, i'm here. Currently posting from the Dunn Bros. Coffee not too far up the road. Not sure when i'll have my own regular net access, but hopefully by the end of the week i'll at least know something. In the meantime, i'm on campus three days a week minimum, so i'll be checking up on you all with reasonable frequency.

Wish me luck.

Current Music: John Mayer in the coffee shop

I have all the faith in the world that you will complete the academic thing, and you will do an AMAZING job. I'll admit when I first met you I was totally intimidated by you, because there's something about you that's just so CAPABLE. I don't know of a better way to put it. Like you can handle anything, and not get flustered.
(Unlike me. i tend to freak out on a regular basis!)

Anyway, I wish you a great semester! :)

Thanks for the vote of confidence. I think it's all just an aura though, i freak out pretty regularly over the dumbest things. Literally anytime i screw something up that i find vaguely important, i have to have a minor freak out about it. It usually passes pretty quickly, but i seem to have to do the nervous breakdown bit in order to be able to think of a viable solution to fix whatever i've narfed.

*nods* Hey, freaking out over the dumbest things sounds like ME!!! ;D

No, seriously. You've read my journal. I have at least a small shit-fit before I can settle down to fix whatever needs fixing, or do whatever needs doing.

Maybe it's how we "warm up" our neurons before a mental workout? ;)

Presents and futures

Hey you - good to know you're there in one piece...within a certain definition of the phrase at least :/

I got your package today - thank you. *hug*
The sheep are particularly cute and thoughtful (umm, not necessarily "thoughtful sheep", but you know what I mean) ;P
Anyway, I'll post imminently about arranging distribution and whatnot.

Anyway, now I feel bad that I hadn't phoned ya, largely through not realising you'd be having more than 10 seconds to spare over the last while...eep. That will be remedied soon.

Also, please hit me with some brain fodder...though we both know how little I know about literature - also I suspect a large chunk of your present curriculum will be alien to me...but I'll help if I can. ;P

...you won't need good luck, at least as far as college is concerned...just try not to get too distracted by the shiny shiny things ;)
But I hope you have some anyway (good luck that is)...and shiny things too...um, I'll stop babbling now...
*hugs*
