Wow. It's up above what a stock 8 bit NES cost when they were new. Ha ha. :)

I want it.

They have a few of them at the comic shop here in ABQ that shares space with a boba tea vendor (that is apparently getting its own location soon which I object to since I liked the experience of ordering boba tea and looking at nifty collectors items while waiting for the boba tea). Anyhow, I don't know if any of the NESs are haunted, and I haven't asked about the price, but I doubt they are near ~$200. Maybe I should've held on to mine. I think I sold it, along with 10 or so games, a zapper, and one of those fold-up IR-sensor things (don't remember what it was called), in the early '90s for $50. It would spontaneously pause or freeze too, but I don't know how much it was spontaneity as it was over-heating.

i actually spilled a lot of sprite in my NES once. lost my Zelda savegame and temporarily shorted the machine for a bit, but the machine came back as soon as it dried out and i ended up playing through the entirity of Zelda in one go out of annoyance. ;) the system itself is still in storage in my parents' basement along with my Atari, Pong, and Intellivision.

i think you can usually get one at a second hand shop for just a few dollars these days, they're not rare and they're (seemingly) indestructable.

what i do miss about the old cartridge-y systems, the whole blowing into the inside of the cartridge (or occasionally the machine itself) in order to make the machine recognize the game. why i miss this, i don't know. just needless nostalgia i suppose.
