i was just popping down to the shop, and had to walk around a parking enforcement van. the side of this van proudly proclaimed:
"Promoting sensible parking"
while the rear read:
"Vehicle may stop to facilitate the immobilisation of illegally parked vehicles"
also, i declare it national appreciate your postal system day.
my parents posted me a box of marshmallow peeps and other sundries (yes, actual peeps, not representations of them, luvcraft) and the post office tried to deliver them while i was in class yesterday. rather than leave the box, or ring one of my neighbors' bells and ask them to set it inside the building for me, the postmen just left me a "we were here and you weren't" notice. nothing unusual. the catch is that if i want them to redeliver the box, i have to pay them 6 euro. otherwise i have to go to Dublin 22 to fetch it (20-30 minute walk to town plus a 30 minute Luas ride). sigh. at least the Royal Mail still rocks (i used to be able to address letters to someone i know like this: "Their Name, Cobb Cottage, Sussex, England"). luckily for me, endon_neu was nice enough to offer to fetch the box for me, thereby contributing to the delinquency of a slacker. i think he just wants a chance at getting to actually eat some of the peeps (because he's never had one) rather than finding me in a sugar-induced coma in the morning.
