At first I thought it was funny and clever, but then...

(15:39:14) Radian: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/4449651.stm
(15:39:23) UoVST: what is this?
(15:39:29) R: Funny
(15:39:54) UoVST: oh shit
(15:40:01) UoVST: way to make America look stupid
(15:40:38) Radian: Read the actual PDF, though... it might not make sense, but it is structurally sound.
(15:41:18) UoVST: Yeah, I mean it's syntactically correct. And it has jargon. I personally wouldn't know if it made sense or not because of the subject matter.
(15:41:41) UoVST: No, actually. The first sentence in the abstract makes no sense.
(15:41:47) UoVST: Physicists do not care about web browsers.
(15:41:49) UoVST: End of story.
(15:43:16) UoVST: I think a lot is being made out of nothing much here. The conference administrators say that the paper was accepted because none of the reviewers had gotten back on it because the paper was submitted late. So they didn't want to reject something that none of the reviewers who were supposed to read it had actually read. And probably they didn't read it because it didn't make sense.
(15:43:30) UoVST: Fucking MIT smarter-than-thou bastards.
(15:43:55) Radian: Heh
(15:44:19) Radian: I didn't read the whole article. You make a good point.

At any rate, if a program was able to randomly generate that (without the students doctoring it up), I'm impressed with the program.

I know nothing of the topic ("Systemics, Cybernetics and Informatics?" WTF, man?), but I think it's HILARIOUS that a bogus paper would be accepted for conference presentation. :D
