by way of caitfish

the House has renewed bits of the Patriot Act, some of them permanently. not all of the renewed bits are 'controversial' measures, but some of them clearly are. damnit.

will i ever feel comfortable going back to my own country?

is it too much to ask to live somewhere that doesn't think invading its citizens' privacy without their knowledge is a good thing?

It is indeed. Every state will eventually take measures like this one as it becomes older and its bureaucracies more established, especially in such a climate. It is too much to ask. It is not too much to fight.

good time to get behind those at http://bordc.org/

and to continue to pressure states to claim their rights to limit these things!
